Purpose: Present a prospective scenario approach for the next 30 years in the B2B segment for telecom operators in Brazil.
Theoretical framework: The research was carried out using a semi-structured quantitative approach supported by the Delphi method and using the construction of prospective Schwartz scenarios (GBN), being carried out with specialists and managers from the Telecom segment for B2B.
Design/methodology/approach: It was found that the use of the prospective scenario methodology can be a tool for strategic planning, applicable in the face of uncertain conditions in the long term.
Findings: Through the methodology of prospective scenarios, the construction of four future scenarios was developed: 1) Democracy of Info-Innovation, 2) Resistance of Special-Locals, 3) Big Telco-Tech Evolution, 4) Great Expansionists.
Research, Practical & Social implications : The contribution of this article is in the delivery of a practical exercise that demonstrated how prospective scenarios can be used as a guide for the leadership of companies in strategic positions and also as a guide for long-term actions, for all participants of this company.
Originality/value : The carriers in Brazil are currently facing an environment of several variables and complexities brought about mainly by competition from new IT entrants, regional operators, new emerging technologies and the Digital Transformation movement. This article presented a viable exercise to support long-term strategic planning, through prospective scenarios, in such a way as to provide subsidies to support today's decisions
